On Wednesday, December 6th, 2006, Hanover's Mayor Stephan Weil has laid the first stone of the new Ernst-August-Galerie, the biggest innercity project in Hanover. In line with the plans of developer ECE an elegant 30,000-m² 3-story shopping center with retail and leisure and 1,200 parking places will arise on the city axis between the Kurt Schumacherstrasse and Herschelstrasse. The opening of Ernst-August-Galerie is scheduled for the end of 2008.

ECE expects that the Ernst-August-Galerie will attract some 30,000 visitors on a daily basis and will create up to 1,200 working places. The catchment area of the shopping center encompasses 1.3 million inhabitants. ECE's partner in this €230-million project is HGA Capital Grundbesitz und Anlage GmbH, part of HSH Nordbank Gruppe.
