ECE joins ISA as the latest new Founding Member (DE)

Major European developer ECE has joined ISA as the latest new Founding Member.

Based in Hamburg, the company currently operates in 16 countries and has 137 shopping centers under management, totaling over 4.4 billion m² of sales area, with 19 at the construction or planning stage. They also have over 500,000 m² of logistics premises and a further 800,000 m² of office space.

Markus Lentzler, Managing Director of ECE said: "Sustainability has always been one of our top priorities, which is reflected in the quality requirements of our projects, as well as in our long-term commitments. Rather than trying to maximize short-term profits, ECE focuses on the sustainability of its projects and the social responsibility resulting from its various activities.

"As the European market leader in the field of downtown shopping centers, ECE sees itself as being under a special obligation to pave the way for more sustainability in our industry and joining ISA is a key part of our strategy."

John Pike, Secretary General of ISA said: "We are delighted to welcome ECE as a new member, particularly in the run-up to Expo Real in Munich and the publication of our 2011 Benchmarking Report. This shows how our organization is developing fast, bringing together an increasingly influential group of organizations who are dedicated to achieving higher levels of sustainability."

Other recent new members to ISA include Baumag, Probam and SIG as Associate Members, together with Bopro and the Dutch Green Building Council in the new Portfolio Members category.
