DHL supply chain lease major new warehouse in Belgium (UK/BE)

In what amounts to a huge boost to the Belgian warehouse market, CB Richard Ellis has secured the leasehold interest on behalf of DHL Supply Chain for a new purpose built warehouse facility in Bornem, near Brussels, located near the A12 Antwerp-Brussels axis.

The facility, which will be developed by the Belgian based developer De Paepe Group on their Maritime Logistics Park, will total approximately 36,500 m² and will be divided into two units of approximately 22,350 m² and 14,150 m² respectively. The first phase will be completed in Autumn 2010.

There is considerable expansion capability which allows the potential for future growth in support of DHL's campus strategy.

According to Ritchard Fitzpatrick, Senior Development manager at DHL Real Estate Europe: "This deal is the culmination of 18 months work and epitomizes our new way of working together with our strategic property advisors to deliver the optimum real estate solution for DHL Supply Chain."

CB Richard Ellis advised DHL Property Solutions in the transaction and according to Guy Frampton, Head of European Industrial and Logistics at CB Richard Ellis: "This is an important deal in a European context and demonstrates considerable occupier confidence in an uncertain market. This transaction is the largest since the recently signed exclusivity agreement between CBRE and the UK office of DHL Real Estate to support the growth agenda of DHL Supply Chain throughout Europe."
