DB Schenker takes over 10,000 m² of leased space at PointPark Prague D1 and Zilina (CZ/SK)

DB Schenker, one of the world's leading providers of integrated logistics and global forwarding services, has expanded its presence at PointPark Properties' (P3) logistic parks, taking an additional 6,949 m² of warehousing and 290 m² of office space at PointPark Prague D1.

The company has also signed a new deal for 2,810 m² of warehouse space and 227 m² of office space at PointPark Zilina, Slovakia. Both deals have been concluded to support the growth in operations of two of DB Schenker's most important international business clients.

PointPark Prague D1 is located near Strancice, some 16 km from Prague, on the D1 motorway to Brno and Bratislava. Construction of the 177,700 m² logistics park commenced in late 2005 and 95% of the existing space is currently let. More than 39,000 m² of land with valid building permits is ready for future build-to-suit developments. Key customers of PointPark Prague D1 include DB Schenker, HOPI, Auto Kelly and PST CLC.

Zdenek Kaspar, COO Logistics, DB Schenker Czech said: "This is the fourth time we have expanded our premises at PointPark Prague D1. As our logistics clients needs grow we must grow with them. PointPark Prague D1 has an excellent location and infrastructure and this, together with the flexibility of its design and management, made it the obvious choice for our expansion."

Daniel Kubiznak, Leasing Manager, P3 Czech Republic said: "DB Schenker has been a tenant at PointPark Prague D1 for more than 6 years and had already leased over 26,000 m² of warehousing and office space in two of the park's three buildings. DB Schenker last expanded its space in May 2012 and now, with this new deal, it has become the second largest tenant at our D1 park. We are glad to be able to support DB Schenker's growth and its ability to provide high quality logistical support to its clients from its PointPark Prague D1 base."

PointPark Zilina covers 90,000 m with the potential for construction of a further 35,000 m² warehouse space. It is located in the Zilina region, which is a strategic industrial transit hub. The park is near the town of Strecno, 300 meters from the D1 highway system which links major Slovak cities such as Bratislava, Zilina, Poprad and Kosice, and approximately 11 km from the planned international highway D3 connecting Slovakia with Poland.

In cooperation with Optima Consulting, PointPark Properties started construction of the first phase of the logistics park in June this year and, in August, Albatros Logistics began using 6,000 m² of storage and office space in the park as an automotive parts distribution centre for Kia.

Dietmar Schmickl, Managing Director, DB Schenker Slovakia said: "Zilina, with its growing economy, has been a traditional place of business for us in the past years. PointPark Zilina is a new location for us. As a top quality logistics park, it supports our future plans to provide high-‐end logistics solutions in this area both to clients from the FMCG industry and also the local production industry. With this new location we can offer the full range of logistics services, from warehousing to distribution to the whole of Slovakia, from one strategic traffic point in the same way as we do in the rest of Europe."

Peter Becar, P3 Managing Director Czech Republic and Slovakia said: "In Slovakia, P3's long-‐term strategy is to expand outside of Bratislava, in prime locations such as Trnava, Zilina, Presov, Kosice or other locations preferred by our clients. The Zilina Region is one of Slovakia's strategic industrial and transportation hubs and, thanks to the presence of car manufacturer Kia, is especially popular with automotive subcontractors – as is Bratislava which has Volkswagen and Trnava with Peugeot. With its low vacancy rate and an overall lack of modern warehouse space, we see huge potential in this region."
