Danish company Toms Gruppen A/S leases space in Leszno (DK/PL)

Toms Gruppen A/S, the largest producer of confectionary products in Denmark, has leased warehouse and production space in Leszno. The owner of the building is SEWS-Polska sp. z o.o. The leading global real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield has represented the owner in the lease transaction.

Toms will occupy 9,969 m² of warehouse and production space in the building located at 27 Okrezna street in Leszno. The new tenant plans to start its operation in July 2012. Toms is renting the building for five years and with an option to buy.

Toms will use the building in Leszno for packing of chocolate which will be produced in Denmark and transported to the facility in Leszno. The finished products will be manually packed and sent back to the Danish warehouse or shipped directly to customers. Around 220 workers will be employed during the high season (May-November) and around 100 employees in the remaining months when all products has been transferred over the next 18 months.

"Toms has been looking for an appropriate building in Poland for nearly a year in order to reduce production costs. The adaptation works will require only minor changes to meet tenant specific needs. The commitment of local authorities, in particular, the direct support of the President of the City has contributed to making the final facility location choice," said Wojciech Dachniewski, negotiator in the industrial department of Cushman & Wakefield.

The majority owner of SEWS-Polska is Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Europe Ltd (Sews Europe Ltd), a major supplier of wiring harness and components for the European automotive industry.

The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency has also participated in the process of seeking a location for the Danish producer.

Toms will start hiring people in June 2012 and will inform about contact details at a later stage.
