Hilton launches Curio brand in Portugal

Curio Collection by Hilton debuts in Portugal

Hilton is launching two hotels in Portugal under its Curio Collection by Hilton brand. The collection of upper-upscale hotels and resorts will be joined by The Emerald House Lisbon, which will open in the Portuguese capital in Summer 2020, and Boeira Garden Hotel Porto Gaia in Porto, which will welcome guests in a phased opening in December 2019 with the hotel fully operational in Spring 2020.

Located in the heart of the capital, The Emerald House Lisbon is steps away from many of Lisbon’s top attractions and the historical districts of Chiado and Baixa, known for its vibrant restaurant scene, boutique shops and local culture. The 67-room hotel will offer a fitness centre, restaurant and bar for guests and local residents to enjoy. The property will open following a multi-million Euro renovation with interiors styled to reflect the city and the hotel’s elegant neighbourhood.

Located within three hectares of historic gardens and next to one of Porto’s oldest wineries, the Boeira Garden Hotel Porto Gaia, which is undergoing a renovation as part of its conversion, will open in two stages. From December 2019 the hotel will offer 44 guest rooms, as well as meeting rooms, a lobby bar and a spa and fitness centre for in-house guests. In Spring 2020, a further 80 rooms will open, as well as a restaurant, rooftop bar, Garden rooms for weddings and social events and a business centre. External guests will also be able to join overnight guests in making use of the spa, fitness centre and swimming pool from spring onwards.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton said: “We are delivering on our European expansion strategy and pleased to introduce the Curio Collection by Hilton experience to Portugal, which saw foreign visitor numbers increase to nearly 23 million in 2018, up 7.5% compared to 2017. We are confident that having the choice to stay with Curio Collection will enhance the hospitality markets in both Lisbon and Porto, both exceptional cities that have increasing appeal as tourist destinations.”
