More than 500 corporate real estate (CRE) executives are expected to attend this week’s CoreNet Global EMEA Summit (16-18 September) in London, marking the fourth time that the annual event has been held in the UK’s capital.

Corporate occupiers and real estate advisors are anticipated to come from all over Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and other regions, and organisers believe that attendance figures will exceed those of last year’s successful event in Berlin, which attracted delegates from 23 countries.

This year’s CoreNet Global EMEA Summit has adopted the theme “Disruptive Innovation: the Business of Change", and will explore the challenge posed to corporates by changing market conditions and business dynamics, caused by factors such as changes in technology, shifting demographics and other criteria.

Confirmed keynote speakers include neuroscientist Beau Lotto, who will explore innovation and creativity through perceptual neuroscience to provide useful new perspectives, and futurologist Magnus Lindkvist, who will help attendees navigate the ongoing challenges of technology, globalisation, entrepreneurship and macroeconomic volatility.

The conference will explore a wide range of issues, from the threats and opportunities of hyper-connectivity for businesses, to cyber-attacks and the risk to building management systems. The event will also look at the future rise of the vertical campus, and elaborate on what can be learned from sports science in the workplace in terms of performance.

Representatives from Google, Ebay, Pfizer, IBM Business, Bose Corporation, Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank, Unilever, Cisco, Oxford University, University of Exeter, UCL, Iron Mountain, Arup and Sodexo are all participating in the conference programme.

This year’s Summit itinerary also includes a guided site tour of King’s Cross, a multi-phase, commercially-led, mixed-use development of 743,224 m² (8,000,000 ft²), comprising 50 buildings across 27 hectares (67 acres) of land. King’s Cross represents the largest area of land to be developed in Central London since the Victorian era.

Other highlights include the continuation of the Leadership Development program, which assists business leaders to retain a competitive edge, focusing on leadership skills areas including a focus on self, others and organisations. Leadership Development is intended to complement CoreNet Global’s established platforms focusing on the more technical aspects of the CRE role, including the MCR and SLCR designations.

Finally, delegates will be updated on the CoreNet Global Academic Challenge, which was launched in March this year. The initiative provides an opportunity for students from all disciplines to address the key issues impacting CRE and the challenges facing corporate enterprise.

London was previously the host city for CoreNet Global in 2007, 2010 and in the 2012 Olympic year.

The CoreNet Global EMEA Summit takes place 16-18 September at the Lancaster Hotel, Lancaster Terrace, London.
