Clearbell secures 42,000 ft² (3,901 m²) Capita letting at Lingfield Point (UK)

Clearbell, the real estate fund manager business, has agreed a 42,000 ft² (3,901 m²) letting to Capita at Lingfield Point business park in Darlington. A flagship tenant, Capita plans to move 450 employees to the site later this year, taking Lingfield Point's customer head count to more than 3,000.
Capita, the FTSE100 business process outsourcing and integrated professional support services company, was attracted by the culture and ethos at Lingfield Point. It will join other high-profile tenants, including AMEC Foster Wheeler, Four Seasons Health Care, and the Student Loans Company.
Dominic Moore, Asset Management Director at Clearbell, said: “This letting expedites the continued creative conversion of the former factory buildings into high-spec, high-quality office space. The fact we are attracting businesses of the calibre of Capita supports our ambitions to create a regional hub for business here.”
Eddie Humphries, Estate Manager at Lingfield Point, added: “Capita is a great service provider and we feel that fits hand-in-glove with our ethos of customer service - from the fabulous on-site facilities to 24 hour concierge service.”
Susan Ring, Chief Executive, Capita Employee Benefits, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with our decision to move our Darlington office to Lingfield Point. This move represents an exciting chapter for us and builds upon our center of excellence for public sector pensions administration in Darlington, recently strengthened with the further extension of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme contract. We were looking to create a flagship site for our people in Darlington and Lingfield Point ticked all of the boxes.”
Chief Executive of Darlington Borough Council, Ada Burns, said: “It is great to see Lingfield Point continuing its expansion plans and being an important part of the thriving business investment in the town.”
Nearby in the historic cathedral and university city of Durham, Clearbell is also an investor in The Gates Shopping Centre. The 130,079 ft² (12.077 m²) mall, which currently includes 49 retail units, has scope for considerable re-positioning and Clearbell is working on plans to regenerate the area.
