Catella renews focus on residential properties in Germany (DE)

Catella in Germany has founded a new company to support residential property transactions. The operations will be run under the name Catella Property Residential GmbH.

Frank Zweigner (38) will take the lead of the company together with Klaus Franken, Managing Director of Catella Property GmbH. Zweigner, with a degree in construction engineering and real estate economics (ebs), is a proven expert in the residential property industry and thus brings a great deal of expertise and experience in this asset class.

He has been active in the last few years as a member of the Board of Vivacon AG in the Investment division, among others, and was responsible for the purchase and sale of over 30,000 apartments.

With the establishment of Catella Property Residential GmbH, Catella is concentrating the already-extensive activities of this asset class in a separate company. "For our clients this means being able to call upon focused advise in order to prepare purchases and sales, (re-)financing or restructuring and to successfully implement them," says Klaus Franken.

"The share of residential property transaction consulting has already grown to a not insubstantial share of our overall turnover in recent years. Numerous portfolio and single transactions have been completed and support in financing and project development provided.

"The newly founded company is already handling a project and marketing volume of about €250 million at its official launch. The range of projects here varies from a portfolio with more than 100,000 m² up to conversion of old office space to student apartments valued at about €5 million," says Franken.

"We see ourselves as both a classic real estate provider and a niche specialist. We are pursuing an individual and holistic advisory approach with regard to our clients. The focal points will be project developments, purchases and sales, repositioning and the exploitation of non-performing residential portfolios, but we also feel at home in niche segments such as domain of student housing," Zweigner added.
