Ana Tower in Bucharest obtains LEED Gold Core & Shell Precertification (RO)

Ana Tower, a class-A office building developed by GTC Romania in partnership with Ana Holding, has successfully finalized the first phase of the green certification process by obtaining LEED Gold Core & Shell Precertification.

In its completed state, Ana Tower will be an ultra modern, class-A high rise office building with a gross building area of over 40,000 m² and a three-level underground parking garage. The project is located in the area of Presei Libere Square in Bucharest.

"We have entered the modern era of commercial property development, where design and construction must meet the innovative criteria of Green Certifications. The precertification of Ana Tower represents the first out of many steps GTC and Ana Holding are undertaking in their mission to create long-term value," said Shimon GALON, CEO of GTC Romania.

Colliers International is one of the first real estate companies in Romania with accredited professionals to offer green certification advisory services, following the launch of its dedicated service in 2011. Colliers offers consultancy for LEED and BREEAM certifications for existing buildings, with the purpose of improving their performance and sustainability, as well as for new developments. Presently Colliers assists over 10 projects throughout Central and Eastern Europe in obtaining the Green Certification.

"We are very excited to support GTC and Ana Holding in their effort to design and construct this landmark project for Bucharest according to LEED requirements. Ana Tower is further evidence that green building is more than just a trend and that the market is listening to what tenants demand for office space, especially Multi National Corporations. The partners will benefit from the many economic and financial benefits, as well as minimize the impact buildings and constructions have on the environment," comments Devin Saylor, Head of Colliers International Green Building Certification for the CEE region.

"It is now evident that sustainable building is an increasingly important concern for Romanian real estate market and is perceived as good business practice. The technologies applied in such buildings lower energy and operating costs, create superior and healthier indoor quality, achieve higher rents and trade better," says Oana Adjudeanu, LEED Green Associate in the Property Management team of Colliers International Romania.

Colliers International is also assisting GTC in the process of obtaining LEED certification for City Gate, the development comprising two 18-story, class-A office towers in Presei Libere square. City Gate is targeting LEED certification for Existing Building Operations and Maintenance (EBOM).
