AMF Fastigheter to develop 100,000 m² mixed-use development in central Stockholm (SE)

AMF Fastigheter has announced its plans for a 100,000 m² mixed-use development which will create a new retail and office quarter in the heart of Stockholm.

The development, named MOOD District, will build upon the success of AMF Fastigheter’s innovative retail concept, MOOD Stockholm, which opened in spring 2012. MOOD District will extend the concept to the surrounding buildings and public spaces creating a brand new retail hub that will bridge the gap between a ‘traditional’ store offering and the latest trends in e- and m- commerce.

Set for completion in 2016, MOOD District will span several streets and city blocks extending central Stockholm’s prime retail pitch and will be anchored by three flagship retail units offering between 1,000 m² and 2,500 m² of prime retail space in prominent corner locations. With an affluent core catchment of 100,000 professionals working in close proximity to the centre, MOOD District is ideally located for international retailers looking for space in central Stockholm. On top of the extensive retail offering, AMF Fastigheter will also provide 70,000 m² of modern office accommodation.

Karolin Forsling, Head of Retail and Development at AMF Fastigheter, commented: “The creation of MOOD District is the next logical step for downtown Stockholm. By 2030, it is estimated that Stockholm will grow six times as fast as Paris and twice as fast as Copenhagen. As a result, we are seeing unprecedented demand for prime retail space in the city and in creating MOOD District we can better meet this increased interest.

“MOOD District is located in one of the city’s wealthiest neighbourhoods. We believe that the incorporation of cafes, restaurants, international flagship stores and handpicked designer shops will cater for this affluent and sophisticated community as well as the €3 billion of tourist spending the city enjoys on an annual basis.”
