NEO BRUSSELS, a high-quality mixed-use development project on Brussels Heyzel Plateau which will include approximately 100,000 m² GLA retail and leisure space alongside one of Europe's largest convention centers, has received an enthusiastic market reception following presentations at real estate exhibitions Expo Real in Munich and MAPIC in Cannes.

The next step in the development of NEO Brussels is the tender for the retail and leisure part of the project which will start in January 2012.

The excellent cooperation between the Region of Brussels and the City of Brussels, both of whom have given their full support to the NEO Brussels development, provides developers, investors and retailers with a solid framework to create a new project for Brussels within the parameters of the masterplan and business case developed by KCAP Architects&Planners, ARUP, Fakton and retail property consultants Retail Partners.

Mayor Thielemans, City of Brussels, says "For a fair competition we only need three to five interested parties for each tender; however it seems we already have substantial interest from developers and investors. This positive market reaction to the NEO Brussels development underlines the future success of this ambitious project in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, the heart of Europe."

The excellent existing public transport and road links to the Heyzel site will be further improved for NEO Brussels which is already a tourist, leisure and business destination attracting 5 million people a year.

With 1 million people living within 15 minutes of Heyzel, NEO Brussels will become an exciting place to live, work and meet, offering a new blend of leisure, entertainment and shopping. The park and public areas will be extended to enhance the living and leisure space to be enjoyed by residents and visitors.

The next step in the development of NEO Brussels is the tender for the retail and leisure part of the project which will start in January 2012. At the same time a separate tender for the convention center will take place. Construction works are due to start in 2014.
