AEW Europe appoints Russell Jewell as Head of Private Equity Funds (UK)

Leading European real estate investment manager, AEW Europe, has appointed Russell Jewell as Managing Director – Head of Private Equity Funds.

In this role he will be responsible for managing and developing the firm's private equity real estate funds. Jewell will be based in London and will report to AEW Europe's Chief Investment Officer Rob Wilkinson.

He brings a wealth of experience of private equity real estate investment to complement the existing team and AEW Europe's track record in private equity real estate funds.

Jewell started his career in 1985 with Debenham Tewson & Chinnocks in the UK investment market. From 1988 until 1994 he was instrumental in developing the European platforms of Jones Lang LaSalle and Healey & Baker in Spain.

In 1994 Jewell joined Pacific Investments Ltd as a fund manager working on a range of pan-European portfolios. In 1997 he joined Merrill Lynch's Global Principal Investments business which invested in a range of opportunistic real estate transactions. Jewell was appointed as Head of GPI for Europe in 2001 and built a pan-European platform of professionals based in London and Frankfurt. The role included originating, structuring, executing and ongoing asset management of deals across the European markets.

In 2006 Jewell joined Strategic Value Partners, a global alternative investment firm, as Managing Director, Europe. During his career Jewell has invested in over €5 billion of real estate transactions across the risk spectrum and throughout the European markets.
