The 2011 International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) European Solal Marketing Awards winners have been announced. An incredible 177 entries were received from shopping centers in 22 countries. Six Gold Awards and 21 Silver Awards were presented.
ICSC Jury Chair Jacques Sinke, Director of International Retail at MAB Development and chair of the 2011 ICSC Solal Marketing Awards Committee, said: "The increase in entries this year showed us the breadth of marketing campaigns being undertaken across Europe. The quality of the award-winners is consistently high."
The jury, which for the first time included two retailers, remarked on the particularly high quality of the digital media campaigns. Jacques Sinke added: "The trend for integration of digital and social media into campaigns is evident. Opportunities are also increasing for marketing teams to secure welcome external sponsorship revenue from brands seeking to use shopping centers as a platform to target consumers."
For the second year running, the ICSC Solal Marketing Awards included entries from shopping centers in South Africa, which currently does not have a similar industry Awards program. All winners automatically qualify for entry into the internationally acknowledged ICSC VIVA 'Best of the Best' Awards which recognize excellence in global shopping center marketing.
